What Are Chiropractors?

What the heck are Chiropractors anyway? Back doctors? We’re the ones who get rid of neck pain, back pain, and headaches, right?

Well, yes… but we’re so much more than that!

How so?

Well, open those old boxes in your mind, way back from school, and you might remember learning something about the most important system in the entire body…

The Nervous System! Science has demonstrated that the nervous system is what controls everything in the body. Your organs, your hormones, your muscles, your immune system—everything! From the biggest bone, to the smallest cell—the Nervous System is in charge!

0204635001556728377.jpgFrom this picture you’ll notice that we have:

The Brain (the master computer—the one in charge)

And from the brain comes the Spinal Cord (which is the body’s information highway—the brain sends all signals and commands down the spinal cord)

And then between each vertebra (the bones in your back) from the first in the neck to the last in your lower back, there are Nerve Branches (think of them as wires that connect to you to your master computer—your brain)

It is through the Nervous System that the brain communicates and controls all organs, parts, and functions of the body.

What does all that have to do with Chiropractors?

Well, Chiropractors work with the musculoskeletal system, specifically your vertebrae (the bones in your back). And by working with your vertebrae we can have a powerful effect on the Nervous System.

You see, when your bones of your back are out of alignment that begins irritating a nerve (an integral part in the all-important Nervous System). And if a nerve is being irritated, it is not communicating properly with the organ or body part it’s connected to and controlling. This misalignment and subsequent irritation is what we call a Subluxation.

By removing these Subluxations, Chiropractors allow the Nervous System to communicate properly with the body, thus restoring and optimizing function (and getting rid of pain too, of course).

So… When you think about it… Chiropractors are like electricians!

These are two systems responsible for coordination, control, and powering their respective functions.

On the left is an electrical panel with all the breakers and wires that provide power to the various aspects of a building. Look at how carefully arranged all those wires and connections are!

The human body has an even greater level of organization and intricacy.

On the right we have a human brain, brain stem and spinal cord. You can see how intricately arranged (wired, if you will) all those nerves are. What do you think happens when there are Subluxations present in this vital system?

Bad things happen.

So…

Electricians – assess function of the unit by measuring electrical input/output and when needed provide a service to restore proper electrical function.

Chiropractors – assess the function of the body by measuring input/output of the Nervous System and when needed provide an adjustment to restore proper neurological function.

So, while we can get rid of your neck pain, back pain, and headaches… that’s just the tip of the iceberg!  The most important thing is to check the Nervous System for Subluxations–seeing the wiring issue that is causing those symptoms and complaints in the first place!

Fix the wiring issue–correct the cause–and restore proper function to the body.

Chiropractic optimizes the Nervous System. By receiving consistent and regular Chiropractic care you can empower your body and its functions!
