Why You Need To Stop and Take a Break When You Travel

When you travel for long periods of time, especially by car, you’ll notice that by the end of the trip your back is killing you! And not only that, but your neck and shoulders too!

What people don’t seem to realize is that when you travel for hours and hours at a time by car, there is actual damage being done to your body. Cars--even new cars--always have some kind of vibration or shaking that happens when you ride in them. This could be because the road you’re driving on is rough, or it could even be coming from the engine itself! Vibration may not seem like a big deal, but it is. These micro damages build up over time, and the longer you let it go, it will continue to get worse.

There’s also the fact that you’ve been sitting in a fixed position for hours at a time. Movement is vital to survival! Sitting for extended periods is one of the worst things you can do to your body. That coupled with vibration damage on the road, it’s no wonder you’re in pain after travel!

So, a very simple solution to help make your travel easier is to pull off onto the side of the road every hour or so and stretch! And, if you have a good enough location, take a few minutes’ walk to help work out those tired muscles.

“But that will make my trip take longer!” Sure, but isn’t it worth taking a little extra time to keep your body in the best shape it can be? We think so!

And, of course, after your trip get your spine checked right away so that your Chiropractor can help undo some of the damage that the road has done to your spine! And, even better: get your spine checked BEFORE your vacation so that your body can be fully prepared to take on the road!

If you are suffering Pain or Discomfort right now, don't wait any longer. Schedule an appointment with Progressive Chiropractic now and start getting your health back today!
